Terms of Rental

Plain-English terms for renting a scooter with us. Read these before you book so there are no surprises at pickup.

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Rental apply to every scooter hired from Island Ride, based at Deponthieu Street, St. George's, Grenada. By requesting and collecting a scooter from us, you agree to the terms set out below.

Booking & confirmation

When you submit a booking with us it is a request, not a guaranteed reservation. We’ll check availability for your dates and confirm by email. Your rental is only secured once we have sent you a confirmation.

There is no online payment. Nothing is charged when you request a scooter — you pay when you collect it. You can start a request on our booking page.

Eligibility

  • Riders must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must hold a valid driver’s licence and bring it with you.
  • You must provide photo ID at pickup.
  • A local temporary driving permit may be required to ride in Grenada. If so, we can help you arrange one — just ask.

Payment & deposit

Payment is due on pickup, in person at the shop. All prices are quoted in East Caribbean Dollars (EC$ / XCD).

A refundable depositis taken at pickup. It is returned to you when the scooter is brought back safely, on time and in good condition. We’ll confirm the deposit amount when you collect the scooter.

The scooter

Every scooter is handed over serviced, fuelled and with a helmet provided. Please return it in the same condition and at the same fuel level as when you collected it. If anything doesn’t seem right — a warning light, a strange noise, a flat tyre — report it to us promptly so we can help.

Rider responsibilities

  • Obey all Grenada road laws and speed limits.
  • Ride on the left-hand side of the road.
  • Always wear the helmet we provide.
  • Do not allow anyone else to ride the scooter unless we have approved them.
  • Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During the rental period the rider is responsible for any traffic fines, damage, loss or theft relating to the scooter.

Cancellations & changes

Because there is no upfront payment, changing or cancelling is easy — just contact usas early as you can and we’ll sort it out. Please note that returning a scooter late may incur an extra day’s charge.

Liability & insurance

You assume responsibility for your use of the scooter. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Island Ride’s liability in connection with your rental is limited. We strongly recommend that you hold appropriate travel and health cover for your trip.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Grenada.
